ABOUT
About Flight Route Map
Flight Route Map is a transparent Great Circle and flight-distance tool for travellers, aviation enthusiasts and route researchers.
Why it exists
Flat maps can make long-haul routes easy to misread. This project provides a clear flight route map: enter an airport order, inspect the Great Circle route, compare flight distance and see the detour introduced by stops.
What it is for
Add airports in the order you travel through them. The tool lists each adjacent segment and compares the whole route with the direct distance between the origin and destination.
Data and implementation
Airport records ship as local JSON, based on OurAirports with maintained Chinese names, aliases and field overrides. Spherical distance powers the calculations, Leaflet powers the flat map, and the globe and poster share the same coordinates and great-circle samples. Search, calculations and poster generation run in the browser by default.
What it is not
The result is not a timetable, actual airway, flight time or flown mileage. Real flights follow airways and operating procedures and respond to weather and air-traffic control.
Data and privacy
No account or backend airport database is required. Route search and calculation stay in the browser; route IATA is included in analytics events only when the deployment explicitly configures an endpoint.
Contact and feedback
There is no public support email configured for this project yet. For a data or page report, keep the airport code, page URL and a short description ready; a formal contact channel will be published with a future release.
